The Commission Process
Rebecca specializes in portraiture, but is available for other commissions and illustrations as well!
The process for commissions is flexible to meet the client's needs. Rebecca prefers, if possible, to meet with the client(s) in person to discuss the concept and do some drawings/take photographs. If in-person contact is not possible, she will happily meet via phone/skype or even just through email.
Work can be completed directly from existing photos, or pieced together from several different photos. For portraiture, a combination of a live sitting and a photo shoot for reference images is ideal, however Rebecca is happy to work with your needs. Portraits can be simple/classical or creative/fantastical elements can be added if desired.
Once a vision is reached for the piece, both parties sign a simple contract outlining the medium, size, price and estimated finish date. A fifty percent deposit is then given to secure both parties.
At this point, Rebecca begins to create the painting. Depending on the amount of detail required and availability it may take anywhere from four to twelve months to complete, and an additional few months to allow proper drying time before a final protective varnish is applied.
If possible in the case of a commissioned portrait, a final sitting is scheduled in the finishing stage of the painting. This gives the client an opportunity to see the painting before it is complete. This also gives Rebecca a final opportunity to hone in the likeness of the subject from life.
Once the art work is completed, the artist meets with the client(s) to unveil the finished piece. All paintings are framed and ready to be hung.

Upon final completion, the remaining fifty percent is given.
